I was busy in my studies. Suddenly a thought came in my mind. I am sharing it with you too;
Mind or Power of Brain is like an open stream, which flows from top (of a mountain) to bottom. Either this stream follows the path created by previous streams (broad ones) or creates its own way. I think thoughts of Rumi and Iqbal were like these streams which have created a narrow way. This way would become broad as other thinkers follow it.
Now the question arose in my mind is: You control your mind or your mind controls you?
Khurram Shafiq writes about Iqbal:
I don't understand one thing that (in first statement in bold) "Khudi must be in control of mind" whereas in last line, it says that "The Self, or the enlightened ego, must control the mind". Which one is right?

I think that it only implies on "The Powerful Minds".

Khudi, self or the enlightened ego are names for the same thing, as far as I understand. Hence the two statements mean the same thing :)
It's actually a confusion because English is not native for us. In the English language "in control of something" means "in the position of controlling something". On the other hand, you like many other people, seem to wrongly conclude that it means: being "under control of something" which is the exact opposite of the actual meaning. :-))
i don't think they are the same usually a person is so lost in the world of his own that sometimes he doesn't realize his enlightened ego which far different from ego (that is controlling us these days) so one must learn to first discover this enlightened ego and use it to control one's mind....i guess must be in control of the mind is something that is natural while must control the mind is one has to train his self to control his mind rather letting the mind or other things to control it
